Tips for Wedding Preparation

Every bride-to-be must have a wedding dream she has been dreaming of. Yes, we all know that it is only once in a lifetime. But we also have to know that we can't always get what we want. I love wedding-things and because I have experienced this roller-coaster-wedding preparation, I'm happy to share with you how to overcome our fears and stress during the preparation.

So here I would like to share some tips how to manage ourselves while preparing our big day.

  1. Wedding is just one day, marriage is for the rest of our lives
I think the more important is to prepare how you and your life-partner-to-be are going to love after you say "I Do". I know it's hard not to think about the wedding, but I suggest you to spend some quality time with your partner, discuss some important things such as how you will live, how you will share your money, what your partner expect from you on the marriage life, or how many children you are planning to have. You can also spend time by watching movies or anything you like to do together. Enjoy your time with each other and with the family as well.

  2. Know your wants and your budget
Sometimes we don't really know what we want. At some point we just look at someone's wedding and think "oh I want this and that" meanwhile you don't really mean it or if I could say it's just our ego. We have to limit our desire and make sure that it is something we really need. So we can save the budget as well. You can do the budgeting first by making a list of vendors that will be needed in your wedding day (venue, photo, etc) and the estimated money you are willing to spend for the vendor. After that, you can start looking at the portfolio of the vendors you are interested at and start communicating with the vendors. You can ask them their price, how they have been doing, or just feel if you can chit chat and work well with them. If you feel uncomfortable with them or their price is way to far from you budget, just stop and find another vendor or this will make you regret. Remember to always find a comparison! This can help you from spending too much money, unless you have an unlimited money to spend in one day.

  3. Make a timeline and to do list
I am a very organized person and I think it helps a lot during my wedding preparation. After you know what you want and your budget, start making a timeline so you don't have to be in a rush. You can start planning what are the goals of every month, like I will make a deal with XX on January, YY in February, and do so until you reach your big day. Seriously, this can help you to calm down while your big day is approaching because you know everything is handled already!

  4. Be patient and ask for some help
In my opinion, the intention of the wedding is to share our joy with others. Although we will be the King and Queen of the day, still, we can't be selfish. We have to think about our guest : will they enjoy the food, the ambience, the songs, the decoration, etc? Many people will give comments and this can bring confusion to you. But the thing is you have to be patient and listen to other's opinion. If you feel that you can't help it anymore, never hesitate to find helps from either the wedding organizer, family, bridesmaids, or anyone you can trust. Don't do everything by yourself and be a stressful bride (or even worse like being a bridezilla). As a bride, we have to stay happy and smile a lot to face our big day 😊😊😊

  5. Pray and surrender
The most important thing is to pray and to surrender. As the Bible says, "a man's heart plans his way, but The Lord directs his steps" (Proverbs 16:9). We can arrange everything, but in the end it is God's will that is done.

Well, that's all I can share. Good luck to all of you who are preparing the wedding! 😆

Warung Suluh

Lately new cafe and coffee shops are appearing like crazy, and sometimes we are busy trying new food so that we forgot the old ones. Today I am going to review a restaurant in the city of Bandung named Warung Suluh. This resto has been opened since a couple of years ago. They serve a broad range of Indonesian food with affordable price. The ambience is just like a traditional Javanese house, covered mostly by woods and designed with a lot of old plates and cups. Here are what we ordered (please pardon the not-so-high quality of the photos since I didn't bring my camera at that time)

Tempe Mendoan

Tempe is a high-protein fermented soybean, while the word 'mendoan' comes from 'mendo' which means half-cooked (source : Wikipedia). This dish is my boyfriend's favourite that we order wherever we go. In Warung Suluh, the tempe mendoan is not so crispy but it is still tasty and served with a chili sweet soy sauce.

Martabak Mie Ayam Suwir

This is such a nostalgic dish for me because I used to cook it when me and my high school friends do some gathering in the villa. Actually it is a simple dish, consists of noodle mixed with eggs and shredded chicken. It came in a big portion, about 8 slices and the taste was fine but not that special.

Bistik Jawa Ayam Goreng Tepung

Javanese Steak is not that different from the steak we eat in a western restaurant. It consists of a type of meat with side dishes such as eggs, boiled vegetable, and potato. Warung Suluh offers 3 kinds of meat : chicken, beef, and minced meat (rolade). I like to sauce, it was savoury and sweet at the same time. Unfortunately, the chicken was only 4 slices (such a small portion!). But I recommend you to try this one if you come to visit Warung Suluh.

Nasi Goreng Kampung (Kampung Fried Rice)

The fried rice was simple, served with sunny side up egg and crackers but it was tasty! I will surely try the other fried rice when I come back here.

Overall, I enjoy my visit to Warung Suluh and intend to come back someday. Even though the portion was not so big, but it was cheap anyway. My bf and I spent only 100.000 rupiah for all those food, and we were satisfied. Haha. Hope you enjoy visiting this resto as much as we enjoy it. See you!
