It's SUSHI time!

Hai, it has been a month since the last time I wrote. OMG time flies so fast! I was so busy with my final project research that I could barely have a time sitting in front of my laptop doing a review. Please pardon me :(

Nowadays people give their concern more on healthy food, and sushi is one kind of healthy food for me. So today, I am gonna do a review about 2 sushi resto in Bandung. Both of them are located around Dago and quite affordable for college students just like me. For your information, I started to eat sushi about 1 year ago and had been addicted into it since then. I still don't like the raw ones, but there are choices for the cooked sushi. So if you have never eaten sushi, I think it's time to have a taste ;)

- Sushi Boon

I don't think if I can call it a resto because its place is quite small, consists of only about 10 tables for 4 persons each. You can find it in the parking lot of FO level. Even they have the tend to protect us from sunbeam, it was still really hot to sit and eat. My friends and I decided to order together and here they are :

Lucky Luke

The menu states that these 8 pieces of sushi are made of dory fish, cheese, and tartar sauce. The taste is quite good but I was a bit disappointed because I can hardly taste the dory. Fortunately the sauce and the cheese is quite generous, which give a plus for this dish. Since it is being fried, it was not rancid (anyir) at all.

My favorite! The beef teriyaki tasted so delicious, soft and generous. I don't know what is the sauce but it tasted good, a little sweet and sour yet so refreshing. The best part was the melted mozarella on each piece. Uh, I can't resist not to eat more and more. Don't bother with the nori or the zucchini because they got hidden in this tasteful dish. Anyway it also consists of 8 pieces per portion, and each piece is smaller than the first dish.

Dragon Ball

For some people, salmon is a must when coming to a sushi restaurant so we decided to order this last dish. It is baked salmon with mayonaise on top. The taste was good, the salmon was fresh, but I wish there are more topping within.

IDR 32.000

Here are the other menus :

Overall, this sushi shop offers a tasty choices of sushi with an affordable price. The taste of their dishes have been adapted for Indonesian, I think. Despite their lack of small place, they can do a delivery service in Dago. Oh and you can also visit Sushi Boon in Jatinangor, beside Black Romantic Cafe, located so near to my campus front gate (yeay!). I am thinking about going back here to try their ramen and donburi. I will update soon when I got there okay!

Sushi Boon

- Sushi Tengoku

The second resto has more choices of Japanese food, like curry rice and takoyaki. It has a larger and more comfortable place than the first resto. The atmosphere is set in traditional Japanese house, with lampions and some paintings on the wall.

When I read the book menu, I was so confused because there were so many things I wanted to try! From some reviews and instagram pictures I saw, Sushi Tengoku is well known with their Boat Sushi which is a plate consists of many variety of sushi. But unfortunately the sushi in Boat Sushi are raw so I didn't want to take risk eating them. Finally we managed to try these dishes :

Crunchy Grill Salmon

As I mentioned before, salmon is a must when coming to eat sushi. This fried sushi had only 5 pieces but with bigger size of each piece. The salmon was given generously and well cooked. As the name states, I can taste the crunch of the breadcrumbs surrounding the sushi itself.

IDR 35.000

Grill Salmon Roll

Another uniqueness from the dish is the sesame they put on the top of the sushi. For this dish, the salmon was delicious and the cucumbers were still crunchy. Not bad, I think.
IDR25.000

California Roll

It is one of the most common sushi available in almost every sushi resto. This California roll contains avocado, crab stick, cucumber, and lettuce. Well, it is a little bit uncommon to have lettuce in sushi, right? But they taste quite good.

IDR 19.000

Chicken Katsu Roll

It may look alike Grill Salmon Roll, but somehow for me it taste better. I think this is my favorite dish in Sushi Tengoku. The chicken katsu was crispy but still juicy and tender, the vegetables (cucumber and lettuce) were fresh. Look at the toppings, what a generous compared to the amount of rice, isn't it?
IDR 19.000

Crunchy Tempura Roll

The positive side of this dish is the big size of each piece, but that kind of size makes it hard to taste the tempura. But still I like the crunch of the bread crumps and the mayonaise tasted good.
IDR 25.000

Takoyaki

This takoyaki is different from any takoyaki I have ever had. It was a little crunchy on the outside but so moist in the inside. You really have to try whenever you come here! So sad that they only have one toppings : octopus. I hope someday they will upgrade the toppings, like ham and cheese?
IDR 15.000

Orange Juice

The juice is not as cheap as the sushi, but worth enough to try. The orange juice just tasted like what my mom always makes for me. Refreshing!
IDR 17.000
Overall, I love sushi Tengoku better than Sushi Boon. They both serve sushi with a really affordable price but honestly I think that the taste of Sushi Tengoku is so much better (even the portion is bigger in Sushi Boon). They also have better ambiance to gather with family and friends.
