Charm Thai

One day left until my graduation! Yes, finally I am graduated after 4 years studying. Being graduated in this period is kind of miracle for me. I remember how I struggled for the last two months to finish my final research, to write a thesis, to do a final presentation. Those stressful moments will never be forgotten. I know, I wouldn't come this far without God's guidance so I never stop saying "Thank You, God! You are so amazing :)" I also want to say thank you for all the supports from my family, my boyfriend, my friends, and everyone who keep praying for me. One thing we should always remind ourselves is God never leaves us through every process happen to us.

So now, let's get back to food! Now I am going to review a Thai restaurant named Charm Thai. This resto is quite new, located in Paskal Hyper Square near Ta Yang Suki. Although its location is a little bit hidden, they serve a really mouthwatering Thai cuisine!

Here are all the dishes I have ever tried :

Gai yang

For entree, I had this Thai style marinated chichken skewers with home made Charm special sauce. The chicken was so tender and tasty, so it's a must to order this when you come here. The sauce was sour but refreshing and going well with the chicken skewers.

IDR 27.000

Pad Thai (Chicken)

Pad Thai is one of the famous Thailand dish, right? It's a stir fried rice noodle served with meat, tofu, been sprout, and chive as you can see at the picture below. To eat it, you just mix it on the plate and take a spoon into your mouth (don't worry, the been sprout will get cooked as soon as you mix it). Their Pad Thai tasted sweet, so full of flavour. Yummy! This second dish I tried was also delicious and a recommended one if you visit Charm Thai. Oh ya, they also have other choices of meat like prawn, seafood, or beef.

IDR 36.000

Pad Ka Na Gai Grob

My bf chose this dish and he made a really good decision! The menu book said that this is Chinese broccoli and garlic stir fried with crispy chicken. I don't know that Chinese broccoli looks like that. But no problem anyway, since this dish turned out so tasty but it was a little spicy. I like the chicken, so tasty and well seasoned. Another favorite!

IDR 49.000

Deep fried fish with green mango

The gurame fillet tasted so so, but the green mango tasted so refreshing. If you like sour and spicy, you can try this dish.
IDR 59.000

Green curry (chicken)

Please pardon me since I don't have the photo of the dish. But the curry taste good, the broth (I dont know if it's the right term) was thick and full of flavour.

Sung Kaya Fak Tong

Dessert after meal is always a good idea. We tried this pumpkin with Thai custard. The pumpkin was sweet. If you like something sweet, have a try. Haha.
IDR 27.000

Thai Milk Tea

Going to Thai restaurant isn't complete without Thai Milk Tea. Their Thai milk tea taste good but if you want to order it, you had better have less or no ice.
IDR 18.000

Overall, Charm Thai serves a really delicious authentic Thai food as they said. Their place is quite comfortable to have lunch or dinner with family or friends. If you wanna come in a group, make sure you do a reservation first because the tables are limited.

Beatrice Quarters

It's been 4 months since the last time I did a review. Please forgive my absence, since recently I have been so busy with my final research. So today finally I 'force' myself to write, and realize how I miss writing so much. Hahaha.

Right now I am gonna do a review about a cute and girly restaurant located in Paris van Java, Bandung. This French - Italian restaurant was first opened in Jakarta and now they have a lot of branches, both in Jakarta and Bandung. Unfortunately, they dont mention their position in PVJ so I had to do a little research to find its location which is right besides Duck King. My first impression when I came to their place was, "wow it's so girly and cute!" (as you can see in the photo below).

Then I started to read the pinky book menu. They have many choices of food and drinks and all of them look so great. They have many selections of appetizers, all-day breakfast, pasta, steak, rice pizza, and even risotto. For the desserts they have honey toast (which is enough for 4 ersons) and mille-feuile, They also have many choices of drink, from tea, fresh juices, yoghurt, and many other.

Finally, here are what we ordered :

BQ Steak - Organic Baby Chicken (Half)

When I read the menu, I was interested in how they serve the mashed potato. It said the mashed potato is wrapped with something which I forgot (hehe). When this dish came to me and I tastes it, I knew I made the right choice. The salad was fresh, the mushroom sauce was tasty. The mashed potato was nice and not too creamy and it was really wrapped with kind of pastry dough. The star of the dish was the chicken. At first I thought they only give us one slice of chicken fillet, but when the dish came, it was two-slice-of-tasty baby chicken. It was soft and rich of flavours, really really mouthwatering. I don't think we need to eat the chicken with the sauce, either. The chicken skin was also nice (I don't really like chicken skin, so when I eat them, it must be really delicious). When you visit BQ, you should consider buying this! Nyaam :9

IDR 75.000

Herbes et Spices - Poultry

The menu said, it was butter rice stacked with mushroom, vegetables, and meats served with special sauce. My bf chose the same meat like me, baby chicken so it had the same taste as I mentioned earlier. The rice was okay but he didn't like the creamy sauce and the pesto.

IDR 65.000

Kiwi Juice

The juice was from real fruit so it is really refreshing. Moreover, it didn't taste sour at all even it was made without sugar. Worth to try :)
IDR 28.000

Honey Lemonade

You can choose between ice or hot honey lemonade. Personally, I don't really like this drink because it taste like medicine. It was sweet and a little bit sour, but I hardly can taste the lemon.
IDR 26.000

Le Grande Millefeuille - Strawberry

IDR 40.000

There is always a room for dessert! I was so full already, but I was still tempted to try the dessert. So I ordered this millefeuile without knowing what it is. When the dessert came, it was much bigger than I expected. The first thing I tried was the strawberry ice cream. It was so yummy! Well, actually it was like the usual strawberry ice cream but I still love it (and so did my bf)! From what I google, mille-feuile is a three-layer of puff pastry with cream between. The pastry was crunchy and the cream was not too sweet. It was also served with sour strawberry jam to neutralize the sweetness from the cream. Hmm, I think I will try another French dessert the next time I come back here.

Overall, this-quite-new restaurant has a good variety of food and drinks. Although it is a little bit pricey, I think it is still worth to try. Btw, they gave 30% discounts for food loh!

Unfortunately, I think they should improve the service because when I came, there were not too many people eating but it took about 30 minutes until the dishes were served.

It's SUSHI time!

Hai, it has been a month since the last time I wrote. OMG time flies so fast! I was so busy with my final project research that I could barely have a time sitting in front of my laptop doing a review. Please pardon me :(

Nowadays people give their concern more on healthy food, and sushi is one kind of healthy food for me. So today, I am gonna do a review about 2 sushi resto in Bandung. Both of them are located around Dago and quite affordable for college students just like me. For your information, I started to eat sushi about 1 year ago and had been addicted into it since then. I still don't like the raw ones, but there are choices for the cooked sushi. So if you have never eaten sushi, I think it's time to have a taste ;)

- Sushi Boon

I don't think if I can call it a resto because its place is quite small, consists of only about 10 tables for 4 persons each. You can find it in the parking lot of FO level. Even they have the tend to protect us from sunbeam, it was still really hot to sit and eat. My friends and I decided to order together and here they are :

Lucky Luke

The menu states that these 8 pieces of sushi are made of dory fish, cheese, and tartar sauce. The taste is quite good but I was a bit disappointed because I can hardly taste the dory. Fortunately the sauce and the cheese is quite generous, which give a plus for this dish. Since it is being fried, it was not rancid (anyir) at all.
IDR 23.000

Rolling Stone

IDR 23.000
My favorite! The beef teriyaki tasted so delicious, soft and generous. I don't know what is the sauce but it tasted good, a little sweet and sour yet so refreshing. The best part was the melted mozarella on each piece. Uh, I can't resist not to eat more and more. Don't bother with the nori or the zucchini because they got hidden in this tasteful dish. Anyway it also consists of 8 pieces per portion, and each piece is smaller than the first dish.

Dragon Ball

For some people, salmon is a must when coming to a sushi restaurant so we decided to order this last dish. It is baked salmon with mayonaise on top. The taste was good, the salmon was fresh, but I wish there are more topping within.

IDR 32.000

Here are the other menus :

Overall, this sushi shop offers a tasty choices of sushi with an affordable price. The taste of their dishes have been adapted for Indonesian, I think. Despite their lack of small place, they can do a delivery service in Dago. Oh and you can also visit Sushi Boon in Jatinangor, beside Black Romantic Cafe, located so near to my campus front gate (yeay!). I am thinking about going back here to try their ramen and donburi. I will update soon when I got there okay!

Sushi Boon

- Sushi Tengoku

The second resto has more choices of Japanese food, like curry rice and takoyaki. It has a larger and more comfortable place than the first resto. The atmosphere is set in traditional Japanese house, with lampions and some paintings on the wall.

When I read the book menu, I was so confused because there were so many things I wanted to try! From some reviews and instagram pictures I saw, Sushi Tengoku is well known with their Boat Sushi which is a plate consists of many variety of sushi. But unfortunately the sushi in Boat Sushi are raw so I didn't want to take risk eating them. Finally we managed to try these dishes :

Crunchy Grill Salmon

As I mentioned before, salmon is a must when coming to eat sushi. This fried sushi had only 5 pieces but with bigger size of each piece. The salmon was given generously and well cooked. As the name states, I can taste the crunch of the breadcrumbs surrounding the sushi itself.

IDR 35.000

Grill Salmon Roll

Another uniqueness from the dish is the sesame they put on the top of the sushi. For this dish, the salmon was delicious and the cucumbers were still crunchy. Not bad, I think.
IDR25.000

California Roll

It is one of the most common sushi available in almost every sushi resto. This California roll contains avocado, crab stick, cucumber, and lettuce. Well, it is a little bit uncommon to have lettuce in sushi, right? But they taste quite good.

IDR 19.000

Chicken Katsu Roll

It may look alike Grill Salmon Roll, but somehow for me it taste better. I think this is my favorite dish in Sushi Tengoku. The chicken katsu was crispy but still juicy and tender, the vegetables (cucumber and lettuce) were fresh. Look at the toppings, what a generous compared to the amount of rice, isn't it?
IDR 19.000

Crunchy Tempura Roll

The positive side of this dish is the big size of each piece, but that kind of size makes it hard to taste the tempura. But still I like the crunch of the bread crumps and the mayonaise tasted good.
IDR 25.000

Takoyaki

This takoyaki is different from any takoyaki I have ever had. It was a little crunchy on the outside but so moist in the inside. You really have to try whenever you come here! So sad that they only have one toppings : octopus. I hope someday they will upgrade the toppings, like ham and cheese?
IDR 15.000

Orange Juice

The juice is not as cheap as the sushi, but worth enough to try. The orange juice just tasted like what my mom always makes for me. Refreshing!
IDR 17.000
Overall, I love sushi Tengoku better than Sushi Boon. They both serve sushi with a really affordable price but honestly I think that the taste of Sushi Tengoku is so much better (even the portion is bigger in Sushi Boon). They also have better ambiance to gather with family and friends.
